As of the current Spring semester, all Otaku club members must have the Rules and Guidelines sheet signed, dated, and on file in order to attend meetings and participate in any and all events.
The Word doc file is attached if in the event you need a copy. The Rules and Guidelines states the following:
1. You are to be prompt to meetings, regardless of the agenda. This club is meant to be fun, but that doesn’t mean you can stroll in whenever you feel like it. A member walking in after the meeting start time creates unnecessary interruptions, which can become irritating very quickly, especially during an anime showing or a game. Try your best to be on time, and if you’re running late (trust me, we totally understand—things happen!), please drop us a call or text at our designated phone number and let us know: (321) 549-7247.
2. Most meeting days, announcements, discussions, and information will be given in the first 15 to 30 minutes of a meeting. As active members of the Otakus, it is your responsibility to be present for those announcements and be kept up to date, regardless of how “boring” you think it is. If you skip those initial announcements, officers reserve the right to exclude you for the remainder of the meeting. (Naturally, if you’re running late, and you give us notice, we’ll work around it.)
3. Our room is to be appreciated and respected. We went through a lot to find us a space awesome enough to hold us all, so show a little gratefulness. When meetings end, our room should look better than it did when we came in. Be sure not to leave any personal belongings behind (there’s no guarantee it’ll be there when you come back), and don’t leave trash lying around (our space is also a classroom, and it’s frustrating for staff to come in after us and see garbage lying around).
4. All cellphones are to be turned off or put on SILENT (not vibrate!) during anime showings, unless you have a special reason, in which case you are to let us know prior to the start of the meeting. In addition, all other electronic devices (laptops, portable gaming systems, music players, etc.) are to remain OFF for the duration of the meeting, unless it’s appropriate to have it on (i.e., if we’re having a video game day, having your DS or PSP on is okay).
5. One of the best things about our club is its diversity in cultures, values, and opinions. It keeps us together, always thinking, always open. Respect that virtue, and each other. Disrespect toward fellow members will NOT be tolerated!
6. If you don’t agree with the way something is being handled, dealt with, or executed, talk to an Executive Board member. They are in their position for only one reason: to serve their fellow members. If an E-Board member is directly involved or is the person in question, contact an SGA member. Remember: we can’t help you resolve your issue if we don’t know about it!
7. Please remember that we are still a division of Brevard Community College; therefore, their Code of Conduct (found in your student handbook/planner) is also a part of our structure, and is to be adhered to at all times.
Rules are subject to updates, changes, or revisions with or without notice, and certain guidelines can be adjusted to certain occurrences and situations.
By signing the sheet, you agree to adhere to the club rules, and acknowledge the following statement:
I have thoroughly read and fully understand the aforementioned rules, and acknowledge the fact that not adhering to these rules can result in disciplinary action as seen fit by Otaku officers, SGA officers, and/or Brevard Community College’s administration, which can include removal from staff positions, temporary or permanent banning from the club, or suspension/expulsion from the college.
